- Le catenet est la concaténation ouverte des éléments mécatroniques qui coopèrent à l'aggregation des réseaux digitaux mondiaux utilisée par les différentes technologies de datacommunications (telles que l'internet).
- Il apporte à la localité de ce qui appartient à un réseau réel ou virtuel :
- une substructure globale - mondiale, multitechnologie, ouverte et neutre.
- où les serveurs sont connectés à travers differentes plateformes, les réseaux sont interconnectés à travers des passerelles et agissent comme un unique réseau logique.
- Le terme a été proposé par le chercheur français Louis Pouzin dans un article de 1974 ("A Proposal for Interconnecting Packet Switching Networks") et dérive probablement du mot latin "catena" pour "chaîne". Il a été adopté par le département U.S. DARPA de recherche dans ce domaine. L'internet est une optimisation du Catenet sous l'organisation spécifique TCP/IP qui a été lancée par Vint Cerf en 1978 (IEN 48).

- The catenet is the open concatenation of the mecatronic elements that cooperatively participate in the world digital aggregated network that is used by the various data communications technologies (such as the internet).
- It brings to the locality of what belongs to a real or virtual network:
- a global - worldwide, multitechnology, open and neutral – substructure.
- in which several hosts are connected through different platforms, the networks are inter-connected through gateways and act like one logical network.
- The term was coined by the French scientist Louis Pouzin in his 1974 paper "A Proposal for Interconnecting Packet Switching Networks" and it is probably derived from the Latin "catena" for "chain". It was adopted by the U.S. DARPA research project on this subject. The internet is an optimization of the Catenet under the specific TCP/IP organization that was initiated by Vint Cerf in July 1978 (IEN 48).
